چکیده

Pinalia elata is an attractive endemic species of Peninsular Malaysia, known from only six localities within the Titiwangsa mountain range where it confined to montane vegetation. However, four these are now threatened by anthropogenic factors, raising concerns about ongoing survival this in wild. Despite efforts understand conservation status Malaysian orchid species, there remains much work be done, particularly for remote and mountainous areas. Therefore, paper provides a detailed morphological description, photographic illustrations easy identification assessment based on IUCN Classification Criteria. Morphologically, P. can easily distinguished other Malaysia its erect inflorescences with well-spaced, closed flowers along apical half, subtended prominently large purplish-brown bracts. The resemble buds labellum hidden petals sepals. A preliminary risk-of-extinction categorizes as critically endangered, CR A2acd C2a(i) D, according Red List Categories Criteria.

متن کامل(Rodentia: Muridae) from Peninsular Malaysia
There are 25 species of rats and mice (familly Muridae) in peninsular Malaysia (Medway 1978). Of these the karyotypes of 19 species have been described (Yong 1968, 1969 and 1973). The chromosomes of the other 6 species found in this country have, however, not been reported. Of these 6 species, the chromosomes of Hapalomys and Pithecheir have also not been reported from other countries. The pres...
متن کاملSpecies distribution modelling for conservation of an endangered endemic orchid
Concerns regarding the long-term viability of threatened and endangered plant species are increasingly warranted given the potential impacts of climate change and habitat fragmentation on unstable and isolated populations. Orchidaceae is the largest and most diverse family of flowering plants, but it is currently facing unprecedented risks of extinction. Despite substantial conservation emphasi...
متن کاملEvidence for a Higher Number of Species of Odontotermes (Isoptera) than Currently Known from Peninsular Malaysia from Mitochondrial DNA Phylogenies
Termites of the genus Odontotermes are important decomposers in the Old World tropics and are sometimes important pests of crops, timber and trees. The species within the genus often have overlapping size ranges and are difficult to differentiate based on morphology. As a result, the taxonomy of Odontotermes in Peninsular Malaysia has not been adequately worked out. In this study, we examined t...
متن کاملA new species of Kerivoula (Chiroptera: Vespertilionidae) from peninsular Malaysia
Until recently, bats of the genus Kerivoula in Southeast Asia were relatively poorly known, with most species recorded from relatively few specimens (Corbet and Hill, 1992). However, recent use of harp traps (Francis, 1989) has shown that many species of Kerivoula are, in fact, relatively common in the forest understorey in Southeast Asia (Francis, 1990; Francis et al., 1999; Kingston et al., 1...
